These amazing, aromatic and authentic spice kits, are created by Spice Trove and are a real foodie's delight: not only because of the love and attention that has gone into the spice blends themselves, but also because the spices are contained within biodegradable bags, and presented in a beautiful, handmade pouch made from upcycled sarees. 

The menu cards are made with pulp from fine offcuts from the t-shirt industry that are usually disgarded, so this is a really great way to create a beautifully exotic meal in a sustainable way, without all the plastic packaging that often accompanies a take-away meal!

Each saree pouch is individually made, and as such, colours and designs will vary. Serves 4, or a hungry couple who would like a few leftovers! 

Varieties available are:

 

1) North Indian Korma: creates an indulgent curry made with coconut and cardamom, spiced not for heat but for delectable flavour. This one is just like a curry house korma, thanks to the addition of coconut powder - the not-so-secret ingredient! This is presented as a chicken dish, but feel free to replace the chicken with your other favourite meat/fish, or paneer or your favourite veg.

 

2) Kashmiri Khatte Baingan: creates a flavoursome aubergine dish cooked in a tangy, spicy curry flavoured with kokum, ginger and chilli. This is presented as an aubergine dish, but feel free to replace aubergine with your favourite meat, or paneer to taste.

 

3) North Indian Saag: a comforting yet flavour-packed curry, combining spinach, black cardamon and Kashmiri chilli. This is presented as a Lamb or Paneer North Indian Saag, but feel free to replace lamb with your favourite meat, or the paneer with your favourite vegetables to taste.

 

4) Chana Masala: a delicious and flavourful vegan Indian curry made by cooking chickpeas in a tomato and onion gravy. A real crowd pleaser!

 

5) Bengali Malai: a delicious, popular, aromatic and silky Bengali curry. This is presented as a Bengali Prawn Malai, but feel free to replace prawns, with your favourite meat, paneer, or vegetables to taste.

 

6) Goan Vindaloo: a delicious, hot and spicy dish of portuguese origin, showcasing 18 exotic spices, red wine vinegar and lashings of garlic! This is presented as a Chicken Goan Vindaloo, but feel free to replace chicken, with another meat/prawns, paneer, or vegetables to taste.

 

7) Coconut Dahl with Crispy Spiced Onion Tadka: A creamy and indulgent dahl with coconut, served with a crispy spiced onion tadka. This coconut dahl kits come in pale yellow bags and provide all the spices required to make this gorgeous dish at home.

 

8) Amritsari tandoori and pomegranate raita (chicken or paneer, V): A simple yet delicious oven roasted dish accompanied by a fruity pomegranate raita.

Korma: Ingredients (allergens in bold):

Bag 1 - unsmoked paprika, turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder, curry powder.

Bag 2 - turmeric, cumin, ground coriander, unsmoked paprika.

Bag 3 - cinnamom stick, green cardamom, cloves.

Bag 4 - coconut flour

Bag 1 - dried kokum.

Bag 2 - coriander powder, chilli powder, turmeric, ginger.

Bag 3 - asafoetida, ground fennel, whole cloves, whole cinnamon stick, green cardamon pods.

Saag - Ingredients (allergens in bold):

Bag 1 - whole black cardamon, dried Kashmiri chilli, cinnamon stick.

Bag 2 - ginger, turmeric, cumin powder, coriander powder, ground fenugreek, paprika, chilli powder, asafoetida, garam masala.

Bag 2 - cloves, chilli powder, green cardamon pods, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, bay leaves, curry leaves, paprika.
